International Dance Day 2014
The International Dance Day 2014 is the 32nd annual celebration of worldwide dance. The clip above is from a performance by Teddy Verardo and other accomplished dancers, who mix hip hop, boxing, and martial arts. The French performance, Boxe Boxe, is choreographed by the French dancer, artistic director and choreographer, Mourad Mersouki.
The video is narrated in French, but is closed captioned in English. In the film, Mersouki makes the statement, “Cultureculture is not genetically inherited, it is shared, learned, and dynamic- never static, more than any discourse, unites.” This film demonstrates that music and dance are universal languages that all peoples and cultures understand and are able to relate to.
