A term used to describe Indigenous peoples in Canada who are not Metis or Inuit. First Nationsan organized aboriginal group or community, especially any of the bands officially recognized by the Canadian government; First Nations are not defined as a visible minority in Canada people are original inhabitants of the land that is now Canada; and they were the first to encounter sustained European contact, settlement and trade.
